Hot Sauce Collection?

The subject of spicy foods keeps coming up around this site. For some reason or other, everyone thinks the alphageek is infatuated with all things hot. The alphageek likes spicy food, but feels misrepresented to the world. Today, the alphageek will step through the subject of spicy foods, and you could leave a comment about the passion, or lack thereof, that the alphageek has for spicy food. Well, not really spicy food but hot sauce. Well, actually hot sauces. Recently, a friend posted this on the alphageeks wall on Facebook. Well, not really on the alphageek's wall, it was on the alter-ego, real person wall. You could join the alphageek's fan page by clicking over on the left there. We know it works, because somebody at work clicked on the link, and now we see their happy, smiling picture on Fans of the alphageek over on Facebook. You should join too. Getting back to the remark, it was exactly as follows: the alphageek is "...someone who has a larger selection of hot sauces in their pantry than carried by an average grocery store...". I would like to point out that the the position stated above talks to the pantry. To follow up, I took a look in the pantry. I was going to take a picture, but the light down there is not very good. I decided to take all of the hot sauce out, and take a nice picture for you. Taking pictures is something alphageek likes to do, any excuse to photograph will do. please see the picture below.

As you can see from this picture, we have eleven hot sauces here in the pantry.  I counted, because I am a geek and that is what I do.  You probably have a hard time counting, or don't want to count.  The eleven count includes the five pack sampler that you see, as well as a pepper jelly that has generously been counted as a hot sauce.  The count also includes a small sampler.

Now, we are going to post some pictures from the local supermarket. Below is the general hot sauce area, in the local grocery store.

Already, we can observe many more varieties of hot sauce than I have in my pantry.  There are so many hot sauces, even someone math literate does not want to bother counting.

However, the story does not end there.  Below is the Asian area in the grocery store.

There are some more hot sauces in the Caribbean section as well.

I would keep going on with this drill, but as Captain Kirk once said to Mr. Spock, "I think you have proven your point."  The alphageek does not have more hot sauce in the pantry than in a grocery store.  We hope these pictures will help dispel that unpleasant rumor.  Why not leave some feedback on your favorite hot sauce?

Next week, we talk about the refrigerator and what hot sauce is tucked away in a mild chill.

Beaujolais Nouveau

The other day, the alphageek was asked about wine.  If there is anything the alphageek is not knowledgeable about, it has to be wine.  The alphageek is more of a beer and bourbon guy.  See that different color on the word bourbon?  That means you can click on the link, and see the alphageek's bourbon site.  Getting back to wine, you might have noticed that there is a picture of a wine bottle above the words here.  This is one of the few wines that the alphageek knows anything about, and even that knowledge is pretty limited.

The wine above is a Beaujolais Nouveau.  There are only a couple of things that I know about this wine.  One is that it is a red wine that seems to come out yearly, starting sometime in November.  It is a very mild red wine, which means Mrs. alphageek my sometimes drink it as well.  More correctly, she looks forward to getting some each year, and enjoying it for several months after November.  We did find out that this is a wine that is supposed to be enjoyed fresh.  If one waits too long to enjoy the wine, it "turns" (tastes bad) in a matter of a few months.  Yes, we once found out the hard way.

If you want to know more about this wine, other than the alphageek likes it, do a google search on Beaujolais Nouveau.  We are not going to just copy some stuff from some other site here, and claim the work as our own.  The one thing you might want to know right now is that you will need to wait until next November to try this wine because most stores are now out of stock for the 2011 year.
