Old Forester 100 Proof
Not much has happened on the web site lately. Meanwhile the real world has seen change like never before. I am going to leave that change aside and just mention there are two new cats here at AGTF. Maybe one of these days I will post some pictures. They are great cats that more or less like people. Well, they like people as much as cats do.
Oh, the alphageek is now a licensed amateur radio operator too. That is another change.
Enough about other change, how about a quick bourbon review?
I selected this bourbon for two reasons. One was I have read about it being a good value and the second reason is that the ABC store actually had it in stock.
Nose I get a grain and ethanol note, and overall the nose is mild.
Pop I don’t get much on the initial intake.
Body Fire like and pepper notes dominate.
Finish It finishes with a biscuit like flavor, lingering quietly.
The above was at room temperature. I then had it my favorite way, over ice. It makes a great sipping bourbon. I tried making a mint julep with the bourbon, and can recommend it without hesitation. I must admit the finish is not my favorite, but neither are there harsh flavors. The finish is single note, and I just happen to not be thrilled with the finish. Don’t take that too negatively, this is a bourbon I would purchase again.
I seem to be noticing that I am writing about mild bourbons more often. I wonder if this is a trend?
