Elijah Craig Small Batch

I have one more test tube like bourbon to review. If you don’t believe me on the test tube thing, just see the picture below. Before anyone asks, there were other tubes of bourbon, but those tubes are already on the web site somewhere. These tubes are a great amount for a little sip while watching television.

Nose: Delightfully carries notes of cherry and licorice. If I had more, I would like to try this in a Manhattan.

Pop: Sort of slides on the taste buds with no sting or harshness and perhaps even to subtle.

Taste: Mild, almost to the point of not being the most interesting Bourbon I have tried lately. While I like the Bourbon, I do not love this Bourbon.

Finish: A strong grainy finish, which is a surprise given how subtle the rest of the flavors are.

I found this one fun to try. I suppose I could go purchase a bottle, but there are more bourbons to review out there. If you have a suggestion for something you would like to see reviewed, why not leave a comment? Sure, I will get right on that Rip Van Winkle review that you want.

Some sort of clever opening about why I am reviewing this or other witty thoughts go here.

I found some small test tube like bourbons that are part of a sampler. These have been sitting around for years. Perhaps these are now vintage? At any rate, I want to clean out some of the clutter, so I set up to take a quick picture and write a review. There are two of these test tube like samples, so stay tuned for a future review soon.

This is Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage, Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and comes in at 86.6 proof. I am starting to learn that I like the pop of the higher proof products, but I am always willing to try a new Bourbon.

Nose: Slight ethanol, with a complex mix of oak and grain. The nose certainly is inviting, and one of the better aromas from Bourbon I have had recently.

Pop: This is a subtle bourbon when it enters the palette. This is a subtle Bourbon, which might be due to the lower proof.

Taste: Mild and slightly fruity. What really stands out is the amazing body. The Bourbon gently swishes around the mouth and gently warms everything up.

Finish: It goes down gently, leaving a slightly tingling tongue.

I don’t know if this is available anymore, but this is an excellent sipping Bourbon if one likes a mild, more subdued taste. The body of the Bourbon makes for an enjoyable, relaxing experience.
