January 2, 2016 This is a great place in downtown Fredericksburg to get a burger. In addition to burgers, they offer a great beer selection and a rooftop lounge, when the weather cooperates.

Mrsalphageek and I were eating at Vivify when I turned and asked "why isn't this place on the web site"? She replied because I was lazy and had not posted in a long time. The truth of the words were painful but clear, so here is yet another great post.

The alphageek has not really gotten into the gourmet burger craze that continues to sweep the food world. However, Vivify offers a laid back atmosphere where friends can sit down have a burger and a beer or two, and continue about the rest of their day or evening. Simple and straightforward is something we like here.

Mrsalphageek likes to get the popular "The Viv" and "The Viv" seems to be a popular choice among friends too. You can actually see a picture of "The Viv" below, which consists of caramelized onions, pickles, smoked bacon, fontina cheese, and mojo sauce.

The alphageek likes to check out the burger of the week choice on the menu. One week offered "The Jughead", which was an interesting twist on a burger combined with peanut butter and jelly sandwich. You should really try it if it comes back around on the menu. It is not what you are expecting. Yes, mrsalphageek said that too, but I thought it was pretty good.

During our last visit, the burger of the week was "South of the Border", which consisted poblano cream cheese puree, fried egg, picked red onions, BBQ sauce and chiffonade lettuce. We tossed in some fries for good measure. The alphageek loves eggs on a burger, ever since "BurgerTime" suggested the combination, back in the 80s.

The burgers here resist another trend in the gourmet burger world and are not gigantic. Some people have come to expect a giant burger, so your mileage may vary. We like not having a burger so big that an entire family really should split it among themselves and take the rest home for another meal. Oh, you might want to check ahead because they are closed Monday.
