Elijah Craig Small Batch
Sometimes there is confusion about the different terms used by Bourbon distillers (marketers?). Small batch, barrel proof etc can be very confusing. This bottle goes one step further and just uses all of the terms to cover all the bases.
I read a lot of positive reviews and decided to try this for myself. It has the high proof that I sometimes like in Bourbon. I was able to purchase this shortly after several review sites gave it a positive review. These positive reviews caused it to run out of stock in the local ABC store.
Nose: I actually got something other than oak! Some tobacco and dark cherry. I can’t wait to try it.
Sip: Mild for something at 124.2 proof. The Bourbon makes the lips tingle.
Taste: The tobacco and cherry are gone, replaced by a syrupy almost straw like sensation.
Finish: Goes down surprisingly smoothly considering the proof. Leaves the tongue tingling in a good way.
I am glad I was able to purchase a somewhat rare bottle to try and to review. I would recommend it but go slowly at this proof.
